An idea whose time has come
There's a sudden interest in historical love stories. After Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, it's Rajkumar Santoshi who's turning the pages of Indian history. The director is now planning a film on the legendary Prithviraj and Samyukta.
Santoshi says he's long wanted to make a film about the king who abducted his beloved because she was being held captive by her father. After seven long years of nurturing the idea, Santoshi feels the time is now right for such a film.
He has zeroed on his favourite Ajay Devgan to play Prithviraj and is trying to rope in Aishwarya Rai as Samyukta. If Aishwarya doesn't accept the project, the role is likely to go to a newcomer, we hear.
