Your second film Masti is releasing after one long year. Why such a long gap?
I was still studying after Tujhe Meri Kasam had released. I wanted to concentrate on my studies more than films. And though I was offered some films, something or the other always went wrong, so I turned those film down. I know it's said that opportunity knocks just once,but I wanted to defy that rule and I guess I have because I've got films in spite of my absence! Anyway, I was doing a South film called Boys, with the director Shankar.
So are you nervous about the release? Especially after your debut didn't really set the box office on fire?
No, yaar. I don't get nervous about films at all. The last day of the shoot is just a wrapping day for me. It's not like I'll be biting my nails thinking how will the film do. Anyway, I don't bank on any film, not that I have a thousand films in my kitty. But things like releases or films flopping hardly matter to me. Don't ask me why, now that's the way I am.
Why did you choose to pair with Ritesh Deshmukh again? One, your debut together didn't work and secondly, people insinuate that the both of you are having a scene.
That's all very petty, people talking about Ritesh and me having an affair. And please I don't get hassled about such idle talk. Ritesh and I have a very fine friendship right from our Tujhe Meri Kasam days and that's the only reason why I decided to do my second film with him, regardless of the fate of our debut.
You have a very cute girl mimage, which is not happening according to what the junta today wants. That is sexy and in your face bombshells. So how do you see yourself surviving?
I know I have a very cutie girl image. But I don't think it would hamper my career in any way. I think nothing is working for the so called sex symbols these days, in the long term, at least,. I firmly believe that the Indian girl is still identified with her innocence I want to do diferent roles in that parameter. Idon't want to be something that I'm not or something that I wouldn't be comfortable portraying myself as.I don't want to strip my way to success.
So, what films do you have in your bag as of today?
I'm just waiting for Masti to release. Other than that I have a couple of South films. I know that I'm going at a very slow pace. But I'm okay with it.
