Asambhav! Truly inspired?
While the West takes a long introspective look towards Bollywood, and Hollywood inspires many out here, one filmmaker who seems to retain the basic Bollywood masala in his story is Rajiv Rai. The music in his film might have gone techno, and the astounding action scenes gone digitalized, but the plot goes back to filmi roots. And producer director Rajiv Rai takes a strong stand when talking about this. "I haven't looked at Hollywood films before making Asambhav. In my earlier days of filmmaking I used to watch each and every English film, especially action thrillers, but nowadays I hardly do that. I have refrained from watching a film and drawing inspiration from it as you get accused of copying. It's sort of piracy and you have to hold yourself back," he says rather seriously. Well, good that a least one of our filmis out here has his fundas right, hai na!
