Get Snappy - John Abraham
Bipasha Basu has competition. In the form of John's mean machine, superbike that he zooms away in Yashraj's 'Dhoom'. Here's the man who has a bigger biker gear than wardrobe, caught in the fast and swift lane.
'Dhoom" seems like an action film from the Yashraj stable, which is more known for its romances. Does it make you skeptical knowing that you are treading on an unknown ground?
Yashraj is a great banner and they can't only dabble with one genre. I can assure you that 'Dhoom' has action that will simply blow the audiences' mind away. In fact, for the action, we have used Hollywood action doubles, one of them had even done the stunts for Tom Cruise in 'MI2'.
I believe you are playing a negative role in 'Dhoom'. It sounds like a last ditch effort to make a lasting impression.
Acting has no longer remained about positive or negative, it is about playing a character and honestly, I was not at all stressed about 'Dhoom' since I was doing my favorite thing, riding a mobike, so there was no acting. I would have done this role whatever the dimension. Being a Yashraj film, there can't be an all-black negative character, it has layers of shades. The film's about good, bad and the funny, where Abhishek plays the good guy and Uday Chopra doing the fun bit.
But apparently, Abhishek and Uday have more footage in the film, as was expected from a Yashraj film, which would obviously promote Uday.
Well, I always knew Abhishek and Uday had longer roles but I'm palying a very interesting character. I have realized it's better to be a part of good film rather than being good in a mediocre film. So I'm happy being a partof "dhoom'. Abhishek amd Uday are such a pleasure to work with. You know, insecurities between fellow actors is just so palpable on many sets, which makes it awkward. But Abhishek is such a secure actor and person. I think a lot of it comes from Mr. Bachchan. The other day I met him at a function and he was so sweet to me. He's such a humble person being the great legend that he is.
After 'Aetbaar', you are working with him in Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Viruddh'. Now it's the role that Saif had refused to do because it didn't have enough meat. isn't it?
Yes I have signed 'Viruddh' and I am quite excited about working with Mr. Bachchan once again. I know Saif had rejected the film and he may have had his reasons. I liked the role and I think it would be a good film, and like I said, I want to be a part of good films. Besides I wanted to work with Mahesh Manjrekar, who's a very talented filmmaker.
You are drawing a lot of attention for your look in Vikram Bhatt's 'Elaan', what with tattoos and interesting get-ups.
You know it's good to know that all the effort we've taken working out a special look for this film is being appreciated. I have spent three hours to get my hair straightened for one particular get-up. Tattoos have to be redone every couple of days and to just sit idle on the chair getting it done is testing one's patience.
