Are Mahima & Leander at break point
I heard an optimist in love inquire, "If it feels so good, how can it be wrong?" Now that's an eternal quest that none of us will ever be able to solve. Fact is, there comes a time in every relationship, where the couple involved questions their choice. The couple in a similar dilemma is the dazzling Mahima Chaudhary and her sports star beau, Leander Paes.
It's been a four-year journey since tennis champ Leander Paes fell for this glam magnet, Mahima Chaudhary. Unlike most stars, who are most often remembered for the dirt rather than delivery, Mahima maintaned a clean slate in her personal life, until Leander walked in. Some matches are made in heaven, on court and off it. Let's not make any guesses at how she won him over. Her quick wit, scissor tongue and movie-star looks can't spare any man, leave alone Leander. In a very short span, post their first meeting, Leander and Mahima were an undercover item. She would sneak into theatres to watch a Hollywood flick, her head camouflaged in a floppy cap to avoid attention. In vain.
Interestingly, no efforts were made on his end to keep the relationship iron-caged. If there was any room for doubt, Leander's love smitten smiles wiped'em clean. He attended her birthdays, premieres, trials, and every meaningful event in her life. As the loyal girlfriend, she stood by his side in his tumultuous times. Case in point was when he recently suffered a suspected tumor and was hospitalized in Miami. There was no more hide and seek with the media when Leander openly thanked Mahima for being a constant support throgh his ailment on National television.
However, as smooth as the surface appeared, there was a bubbling down under. People close to leander have been passing on the news in Chinese whispers that there's trouble brewing in Paradise. Rumouredly, the couple has been going through a volatile time. Of course, every couple goes through ups and downs. What's life without a little chaos? But doubt crops up when the downs are tilted against the ups. Apparently, its Mahima's choice of giving her career some extra years that might've led to a rift. Not to mention the geographical distance that works against any relationship, this one notwithstanding. Miami and Mumbai might seem too similar when jumbled, but they are indeed continents apart. But, all these are mere speculations. So it may seem.
For early this year, when tennis bombshell, Anna Kournikova did a promotional gig for Amby Valley as an ambassador alongside Leander Paes, Mahima did fly over to spend some quality time with her beau. However, what clearluy smells fishy is the fact that Leander has been confiding to close friends that the relationship is sailing through really rough weather.
"He didn't seem too hopeful. But I guess, in his heart, he knows she's his pillar of strength," informs my source, further insisting, "Which is why it's difficult to part ways. When you've been through so much together, there's always an inevitable bond. The couple is talking their time."
Mahima herself agreed in an interview to biding her time as far as "walking down the aisle" is concerned, "since marriage is a lifelong commitment." Leander, apparently, was conspicuous by his absence at the recent trial of Mahima's forthcoming film, Tanuja Chandra's 'Filmstar.' Something that stands out as odd for Leander, someone who would once never miss such an occasion. Could there be a growing distance in the Mahima-Leander relationship or is it just hearsay? Only time will tell. A colleague told me, 'the right person is not one who makes you happy but one who doesn't let you cry'. For Mahima who's been there through Paes' crying times, never giving up on hope, one hopes Cupid's on her side. And yes, coming back to my analogy, if he's marriage material, he'll love you at nine months and beyond.
