The Rising touches another low
The Rising, starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji, is facing problems again. And now the trouble comes from the descendants of Mangal Pandey, on whom The Rising is based. According to media reports, Raghunath Pandey, Yadunath Pandey and Hoda Pandey (who claim to be heirs of the martyr Mangal Pandey) are not very happy with director Ketan Mehta. As they are totally in the dark about the script, they feel it would be sad if the director misrepresented things and diverted from facts. They strongly feel that the director should have consulted them before making the film. Also the film reportedly has a kissing scene to which a group called the Mangal Pandey Memorial Committee has strongly objected. Their other grouse is that the film is not being shot in Nagwa, the actual habitat of Mangal Pandey. Meanwhile Aamir Khan has completed shooting for the film and the movie is expected for release in the first quarter of next year.
