Dobara rests on a flashback
A special screening of the film Dobara was held recently in Mumbai where only a select people were invited. There are many references to the yesteryear love story Ek Duje Ke Liye, starring Kamal Hassan and Rati Agnihori, throughout the film. Even the climax is set in a theatre screening Ek Duje Ke Liye. In a way the director has tried to offer a tribute to the film! Ace car designer Dilip Chhabria has designed a special automobile for the film. DC has converted a Tata Safari to make it look like a roofless jeep.
This vehicle is integral to the film, almost like a character. The entire story of the film, recreated in a flash back, is unveiled in this vehicle as the lead pair, Jackie Shroff
and Raveena Tandon, travel from Goa to Mumbai. The film marks the entry of the first Pakistani artist on the Indian screen. Besides Jackie and Raveena, the film also stars Mahima Chowdhary in an important role. Pakistani superstar Muammar Rana has a guest appearance in the film. The roel was initially offered to Sanjay Dutt but he was unable to commit dates for the film. Dutt's loss has obviously been Rana's gain.
