Pinjar ke baad paisa?
His film Pinjar, about Partition with Urmila Matondkar and Manoj Bajpai - won two National Awards, and it has thrilled director Chandraprakash Dwivedi no end. But quiz him about his next venture and he say, "I have already finished writing a script on Kunal (son of Emperor Ashoka). The film is set in 240 BC, and the principal characters are Ashoka, his son Kunal, and his youngest wife, Tishyarakshita. It is a very unusual and unheard of story. I am also working on a project that dates back to the 6th century BC." And when will this project take off? "Yes, even I am wondering. Recreating the Mauryan period involves a huge canvas - elaborate sets, war sequences - lots of money and guts. But as soon as I find my 'big boss' (read: financer), my film will start rolling," says Dwivedi. Any takers?
