Tauba Tauba... aaj ki teacher!
This has been a year of Bollywood going out of bounds. After Mallika Sherawat and Meghna Naidu breaking the barries of matrimony for the demands of body and Isha Koppikar putting a question mark on the rules of the nature, now Payal Rohtagi is continuing where Neha Dhupia left sometime back-testing a 25-year-old teacher who turns temptress to her 15-year-old student in the just released Tauba Tauba ostensibly to save the life of her lover, give it to her education, as a computer engineer Payal is erudite when it comes to defending her deeds, something her coleagues lacked.
"The audience tastes are changing. That's why producers and directors are trying such subjects. There has always been a desire to know the forbidden and filmmakers are cashing on it. What's the harm?" Payal reasons, "It is the media backed by box office results which is promoting that Jism was a hit, Murder and Girlfriend have been successes. And now there are reports that students are bunking classes to watch Tauba Tauba."
Does it impress her? "No, in fact the film's message is that parents should take proper care of Kids during adolescence when they tend to be confused about their sexuality." Message comes in the last reel what one notes for the better part is her proportionate body teaching a different chemistry to the Kids. "Not my fault. Somebody had to do it. I think I have a great body and a good face why not use it? Every actress in her prime has done a "Dhak Dhak" or a "Sarkai Lo" to cater to the demands of the audience of that particular period. Some three of four films later I can also switch to more meaningful roles."
For the time being though she is exploring more forbidden subjects like wife swapping in Fun, which also happens to be the launch pad of Manish Koirala's brother Siddharth and playing Laila, a con woman, who dupes men with her charms. And good news for those still susceptible about coming out of morality blanket, Men Not Allowed, where Payal was supposed to explore same sex affliction has run into "financial trouble". Some breathing space for others.
