Swades of Shahrukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar
It's following the Lagaan pattern. A relaxed music release but gradually building stream with people questioning what it's all about. Of course, Lagaan turned out to be a fun film despite all the serious promos.
Now Ashutosh Gowarikar's Swades is going the same route. Like Aamir's Lagaan-it's showing off an understated rural look, earthy music and bearded faces. But that's only till you spot SRK sitting in the midst of the melee, stealing all attention, as always.
An exeedingly confident Gowarikar told us some time ago, "I don't think anyone can question this film. It's a Shahrukh Khan film. It's about Swades. And it's directed by the maker of Lagaan," he added naughtily.
But after Lagaan, we can allow modesty to be dammed for a bit, for Ashu's sake. And frankly, even we think ditto.
