Poonam stages a comeback
Her characteristic smile is the only thing that hasn't changed in Poonam Dhillon. After 20 years of being part of Bollywood, a son and marriage later, Poonam's a bit more cherubic, more cheerful and is dabbling in theatre of late.
In the Capital to play the lead role in the Nitin Jagdish-directed play, Perfect Husband, organised jointly by Amity Humanity Foundation and Gunjan Foundation, the Noorie girl still makes heads turn.
Is she worried about being on stage? "There was a certain degree of stage fright initially but once I started rehearsing, everything was a smooth sail," laughs the former athlete from Chandigarh. Poonam says that "soon, I might turn to direction-I have interesting scripts ready but I will not talk about it right now."
An otherwise candid person, Poonam seems unwilling to talk about her divorce with producer Ashok Thakeria. "Most of my friends give my example as the perfect divorce since my children mean the world to me and Ashok. We (Ashok and I) often meet and spend time with our children together."
She won't spill any beans about her idea of the 'perfect husband.' "If one found the perfect mate, one wouldn't lose him. I hope I may find mine too," she trails off.
