Vivek's still Ash-struck
Have Bollywood's most talked about couple Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai broken off? Or are they still seeing each other. Or better still was it all for the sake of publicity? For those who'd remember Vivek and Ash had a celluloid date earlier this year in Boney Kapoor's Kyun! Ho Gaya Naa which turned out to be a box-office dud.
Ash, back from her Hollywood trip (she's read scripts, signed up some more films) is busy signing up films in Bollywood, including a film with Vivek. Ash insists that Vivek has been and will always be "a tower of strength, a good friend and a huge support. I was never ready to comment on our relationship before and I don't see why I should be talking about us now. On screen vibes are not always dependent on off-screen relationship."
Vivek who's always been vocal about his friendship with Ash and labels her as his "girlfriend" openly confesses that the media intrusion and curiosity about "Ash and my relationship is irritating at times. I think I don't want to dissect our relationship further, even in print. Ash is special, a very special person in my life. Just because we haven't done an interview or a photo-session together and talked about our lives together, people assume that we merely used our friendship and manipulated our fans, and the audience into believing that we were seeing each other, so that our film could work wonders. It's not like, we've given up on each other after our film is over. Both of us are professionals busy with our careers."
Ironic, if you think, there was a time when neither could make a public appearance about each other, Ash was in London alone without Vivek with her. Vivek hastily points out that he's spent most of the "past one month shooting for Karan Johar's film with John Abraham in Manali. There has been no time for any socialising. I'm also preoccupied with the last minute post-production work of Kisna. When I get my social life together, you'll see more of me. But chances are even then neither Ash, nor I will be screaming from rooftops about our relationship." So keep guessing then, until you hear otherwise.
