Angry Ashmit lashes back
After having been labelled an ungrateful younger brother in real life by the media (for turning his back on sister Amisha when their parents reportedly froze her financial assets), actor Ashmit Patel breaks his silence. In fact, he gives you a good reason why much as he loves" he decided to support his parents during the crisis: "I think it's being very ungreatful to falsely blame your parents. During our growing up years, our parents gave us the world, indulged every whim of ours and now when we have an identity of our own. It's remarkably easy to say that we've been exploited just to prove what a martyr we are. If sensible people get swayed by emotions and start maligning parents then what can you say? It took my parents a long time to get over the pain."
In fact, his personal crisis ensured that Ashmit was unable to work in a film after this year's first hit Murder. "I couldn't work in a film after this year's first hit Murder. "I couldn't work at all. I was sitting home and sorting out our lives and helping my parents cope with the trauma and pick up the pieces." Ashmit's now shooting for Soni Razdan'ls directorial debut, Nazar, opposite Pakistani actress Meera Jasmine. But you won't catch Ashmit cribbing about lack of work, he's signed up for three new films already, including a couple for Khaled Mohammed and one for Hriday Sheety. "Murder has changed things for me. After Inteha didn't fare well commercially, thanks to Murder, I got a fresh lease of life. I'm not too ambitious, I know that I am here to good roles and taht's what I am busy with."
Off-screen Ashmit prefers to focus on a fitness regime, catch movies on DVD and read film scripts. "I've learnt to enjoy life and I want to be a big star, so there's no time for girls now."
