Divya dares to dream
It's been a long wait for Delhi dudette Divya Khosla after she first drooled over Salman Khan on screen. Divya was one of the PYTs lusting after Khan in the Vaibhavi Merchant music video Honey Honey last year. Now the video star makes a splash in Bollywood with Anil Sharma's Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo opposite Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar.
Considering that every big actress in Bollywood has rejected the role that had reportedly been offered to Aishwarya Rai first, Divya had a tough job. "I was so raw that I didn't think I'd be selected. But Anilji told me that my face had a certain vulnerability that suited the character," she recalls.
For Divya, working with Salman, reputed to be the most difficult star, was a cakewalk. "He was nice to me. If he had been rude I'd have been put off films completely." Six months later when Divya shared screen space with Akshay and Bobby, she was floored: "They are wonderful people, and encouraged me so much throughout the shooting. I was never nervous after having met and worked with them."
The Arts graduate from Delhi University never had trouble convincing her parents: "They knew I had it in me to be an actress and now that one film is over I can safely say that I am here to be part of the film industry." She needs a hit debut to begin with. And Divya sounds optimistic: "In a film like Ab Tumhare... you can't go wrong. Even if the film isn't a commercial success, I don't think I'll be ignored."
