Film fests not for yash Chopra
The film festival in Goa has come to a close, and most filmmakers who have by now returned to their homes are hopeful people. When we caught up with writer-director-producer Manu Rewal, whose film Chai Pani Etc was much appreciated at the festival, he told us, "Film fests give film-makers like me a platform to showcase my product. It's people like Yash Chopra who don't need any platform and can get everything and anything they want for their ventures. But I'm no Yash Chopra. To make a movie and see it through to the very end is a very tough job. These festival help us take our films a step further and reach out to potential distributors." Well, let's hope their dreams come true, and new filmmakers do get the opportunity of serving the audiences some chai pani, etc.
