Discerning Dino is wiser
Flops have a great way of bringing you down to earth. Ask one hit wonder Dino Morea. For someone who's been part of showbiz for three years and can only claim Raaz as his success, Dino insists that he's no longer "consciously keeping an eye on the box-office collection of a film. The movie industry is a dicey place, the minute you have a flop, no one cares about you. People only worship the rising star.
In town recently on a private visit, Dino admits that after spending the "better part of last year reading scripts and wrapping up films which had been delayed due to my accident in Manali, 2005 will be spent doing some very good films." So for starters, Dino's decided not to scream from the roof-tops about his new films. "I admit that Mahesh Manjrekar's Deh, Chehra and Gumnam will be good films and ideally I should publicise them. But I've learnt from past experience that it's stupid to brag when the audience will check a film irrespective of what you say about it," says Dino.
Does it hurt being labelled a 'flop star' while juniors like John Abraham and Arjun Rampal are busier than him.
"Not quite. Negativity doesn't help an actor as a person. I don't want to be a busy actor, I'd rather be a bit more discerning instead."
So while he waits for those "perfect scripts" Dino is writing a script, looking after his family restaurant, The Crepe Station Cafe and playing basketball. And yes, he's also breaking off from 'good friend' Bipasha Basu. "I think it's time we moved apart and did our own thing. Even the audience is getting bored with us." We couldn't agree more.
