Life moves on for Ayesha
Ayesha Takia is your typical bubbly teenager who's enjoying every bit of her new found celebdom in Bollywood. Not that the modest Ayesha really considers herself "a star yet." And she's not even talking of her film debut (that box-office disaster called Tarzon - The Wonder Car) which happened six months ago. Ayesha has never believed in "brooding about things. Tarzaan was a fun film, but life goes on. I can't keep worrying about commercial failure/success. It's too early for me to think about that."
Ayesha admits that it's an irony that Socha Na Tha, originally meant as her debut, will "eventually turn out to be my third release. Sometimes things are not in your hands: Socha Na Tha was a mint-fresh love story with a new star cast, but the film got delayed. The producers (the Deols) were nice and had no problems about my other films releasing first."
So even as she awaits her celluloid date with Abhay Deol on January 7, her second film, Dil Maange More co-starring Shahid Kapur and Soha Ali Khan has already hit the theatres this week. "Dil Maange... is a wholesome entertainer which revolves round Shahid, Soha, Tulip Joshi and me. We had a blast working together and there were no ego hassles thank you," she points out even before you quiz her about it.
Ayesha, a Mumbaikar at heart, graduated from the pelvic-thrusts of a music video to movies because it's what "I wanted to do. Actually Nahin nahin... is among the best-looking and cleaner music videos ever aired. I was all of 15 then and I think my parents would have objected if I had agreed to do a sexy music video."
However, it seems Ayesha didn't seem to share the same inhibitions on screen when it came to that sizzling smooch in Tarzan!
At a time when most of her contemporaries spend most of their waking moments either socialising or partying Ayesha prefers to "read books on philosophy and history and look after my grandmom who's not keeping too well."
What about dreams of becoming a superstar/queen bee? "I'd rather people remembered me as an actress instead," she says.
