What's a book got to do with Kareena Kapoor?
Her name spells glamour, attitude, spunk, fame and fortune. But what's a book got to do with her name? Everything it seems. The housefull boards for Hulchul are an indication of the smacking finish to Karenina's celluloid call of six films for the year 2004. You've got it right, Karenina and it isn't a spelling error. But not many of her admirers know that her name has been inspired by Leo Tolstoy's famous novel Anna Karenina. And Karenina, Kareena Kapoor for those not clued in, herself divulges the story behind her unusual name. "Well, that's interesting. It so happened that my mother (yesteryear actress Babita) was reading Anna Karenina while she was carrying me. And so impressed was she by the character that she promised to give her child that name if she had a girl. And here I am!" And how did Karenina become Kareena? "Oh, it was clipped short so that it could be pronounced easily," the gorgeous Kapoor smiles.
