Instincts first
Ajay Devgan believes in breaking rules as an actor. After last year's much acclaimed Raincoat, Devgan gets into the masala mode with Nandana Dev Sen in Manishankar's Tango Charlie and Karan Johar's suspense thriller Kaal, directed by Soham Shah.
"As an actor I like to follow my instincts first before I sign a film," says Ajay. "I don't make a conscious effort to be 'different'. The film has to convince me. I just know that I can't do the song-and-dance routine anymore."
He has a new look for Prakash Jha's Apharan. "The concept is interesting, the film is rooted in reality. I've worked with Prakash Jha before and we work well together," he says.
Beyond the arclights, Devgan loves to cook for family and friends when he's "in the mood". And he enjoys spending time with daughter Nyassa. "Fatherhood has changed me completely. She's the love of my life," he concludes.
