Too Good For Awards
Here's another first from the King of Romance, veteran director-producer Yash Chopra. We hear that the respected filmmaker has received so many awards over the years that he is now graciously exempting himself from the Best Director category at all future award ceremonies. Reason? He wants the younger lot to get their shot at the honour. This year alone, Chopra has already received not only the Filmfare Award, but also the Padma Bhushan. "There are so many talented young directors and it gives me immense pleasure to see their work. Though winning an award still thrills me after so many years, I think now is the turn of young filmmakers to win awards. It's only appropriate that I don't compete for awards in the Best Director category now, after so many years of filmmaking," says Chopra about his decision. And if his fans are dreading any suggestion that the filmmaker is losing his hunger for making films - be rest assured, there's plenty more to come from his creative mind.
